NZ and World Triathlon Sprint Champion

As a GP and an international triathlete, Alison is passionate about the health benefits of outdoor swimming for all age groups and all user types.

Judy Patterson

Community liaison

 

Judy Patterson is former teacher and careers advisor who has swum at the Munies since 1975.  She is our mover and shaker, great at setting meetings up and reaching out to people in the community.  Having taught for many years in Hamilton, she knows many people in the community.

Susan Woodhouse

LLB, BSSci

Lawyer,  recreational swimmer

Susan knows her way around legal matters relating to the Municipal Pools project, and is a steady hand always offering the voice of reason when our discussions get passionate.  She has lived in Hamilton, and swum at the Munies, for most of her life, until the pools closed.  Like all of us, she longs for the day when we can swim there again.

Gail Jonson

Swim Coach, Police Liaison, Olympian

Gail is our most experienced international swimmer.  She has represented New Zealand in swimming 10 times – including 1982 Brisbane Commonwealth Games  bronze medal,   and 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. A former police officer, she still works for the police, and teaches swimming part-time.  She recently won 5 firsts and 2 seconds at the NZ Masters North Island Short Course Champs 2021

Robin Hood

Champion Diver, Diving Official

In 1959 Robin moved from Whanganui to Hamilton so he could train in diving with Mervyn Campbell (MNZM) and lasted there continually for 17 years. Under the stewardship of Merv Campbell he became a 10 x New Zealand medallist including five golds and a NSW Australian gold medallist and a Commonwealth Games Representative. Subsequently he was appointed to and served 17 years on the FINA Technical Diving Committee.

He officiated as Judge, Referee, Technical Director in 10 Commonwealth Games, 7 Olympic Games, 14 World Championships, and Technical Director 2 Asian Games, 1 Asian Games.

He has been a FINA Guest Lecturer in 22 Diving Judges Clinics in 20 countries. In 2004 he was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame Paragon Award for Service to International Diving.  In 2009 he was awarded the FINA Gold Service Pin for four quadrennial periods of Service to the Technical Diving Committee (FINA).

 In 2018 he was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for services to Springboard and Platform Diving.

Midwife and Registered Nurse

A recreational swimmer and full-time health professional, Christina passionately believes in the power of outdoor swimming to promote health in all sectors of the community.  Having brought many Hamiltonians into this world, she knows a lot of local people and is great at networking.

Alison Fitch MNZM

BHSHP, MBA


Professional Swim Coach, Olympian

 Alison spent 12 years representing NZ in swimming, competing at two Olympics and the 2006 Commonwealth Games, where she won bronze.  She teaches swimming at a Waikato school and has attended an additional 2 Olympic Games as support staff.  Her MBA comes in handy for our strategic planning.
